So Many Advantages ... And Easy To Install

Our MediTherm system is quick and easy to install. The essence of installation is;

  • Tell us about your Project and we can quickly calculate the area of internal heating (and cooling) required, and provide you with a full costed quotation for everything you need to install your Build4 system.
  • Purchase pre-assembled plasterboards containing the necessary lengths of 6mm internal pipes.
  • Fix plasterboard as normal.
  • Connect internal pipes to main 20mm distribution pipe using John Guest couplers.
  • Insulate distribution pipe as normal.

With a little confidence qualified plumbers will be able to prepare a room in a similar time to a conventional plumbed radiator system.

Plasterboard Installation - Assembling the MEDITHERM®

SOLID WALL

  1. 1. Fix battens horizontally (90 degrees to the pipe in the board) @ max. 400 mm centres on the wall (or if you are using vertical battens @ 500mm max. centres).
  2. 2. Depending on the distribution pipe position prepare the boards to suit.
  3. 3. Fix the Meditherm 125 on the battens (may need additional support on the edge of the boards).
  4. 4. Connect the 6mm pipes to the 20mm distribution pipes.
  5. 5. Connect the 20mm pipes to the manifold and plumb the circulation pump.
  6. 6. Fill up the system with water.
  7. 7. Plaster the boards.
  8. 8. Paint the wall.
  9. 9. Heat up gradually at first.

TIMBER WALL

1. If you have vertical timbers position some additional timbers horizontally (90 degrees to pipes) @ 500 mm centres max.

2.-9. Same as above.

CEILING

1, prepare your ceiling to have supports @ 400 mm centres 90 degrees to the pipes and also have where the boards edges will be.

2.-9. Same as above.

Rendered Installation - Assembling the MEDITHERM® system within the wall

Pre rendered wall installationYou can only mount the system if the room temperature is above 0°C. If the components were stored in a lower room temperature they must reach this temperature before work commences.

Prior to installation the wall should be heat insulated according to the requirements of the engineer (k<0.5 W/m2K), and not plastered but the wiring should be completed and the water supply in place.

Mark the place of the fastening rails on the work surface with chalk line. Be careful when mounting the pipe fastening rails on the wall and make sure that the fastening allows no movement. It is recommended to use minimum two wall plugs for each fastening rail. The fastening rails have to be placed in parallel at a maximum of 50 cm from each other. If this space is bigger, you will have to use more mortar when plastering, because the pipe won't be fastened securely. The lower pipe fastening rail row should be at 5-10 cm above the ground in the case that the distribution pipe is running under the floor boards and should be at 15-20 cm above the ground in the case that the distribution pipe is running in the housing.

Before utilising the pipes of the heating-cooling registers you have to cut the pipe with the necessary length from the roll and you have to make it torsionless. Avoid using sharp or hard tools when placing them into the fastening rails. The pipes can be placed easily without any tools if you start placing them from the edge and not on the whole surface where the pipes have to be fitted. It is advisable to mount the register pipe hanging over with 15-20 cm from the marked place of the distribution pipe, this way the dust or any other impurities made during this work phase. To protect against this type of impurities it's also appropriate to momentarily seal the pipe ends or to secure the following register without cutting the pipe.

The length of the heating-cooling registers made from the 6 x 1 mm pipe cannot exceed 13 meters. It is possible to make shorter registers as well, but in one heating-cooling circle you can use only registers with the same length! The pipes which are transported in rolls have a marking at every meter so it is easier to follow the length of the pipes. A heating-cooling circle supplied by a 20 x 2 mm pipe can supply a maximum length of 300 m (23 pieces of 13 m or 30 pieces of 10 m) 6 x 1 mm pipe registers.

We suggest you use the system's cutters to cut the pipes, because this is the only way to achieve a neat, burr cutting surface without any deformation and perpendicular with the pipe-wall. The inflection radius of the cooled, model 6 x 1 mm pipe is minimum 30 mm (5 D exterior). When compressing the segments (if it's necessary) keep the allocated inflection radius when rotating and step to the denser segment only at the next pipe fastening rail.

After making the registers, you have to size the distribution pipes.

The inflection radius of the cold 20 x 2 mm pipe is 130 mm, with heat gun minimum 70 mm.

The pipes have to be torsionless, you have to use proper equipment for cutting, it has to be assembled on a minimum temperature, and you have to comply with the instructions for mechanical protection and cleaning.

The 20*2 mm distribution pipes - together with the fittings - have to be insulated with minimum 9 mm pipe insulation after the successful pressure test. After this the pipe fastening dowels, which were left loose before, have to be tightened.

Rendered Installation - Assembling the MEDITHERM® system on the ceiling

When mounting the pipe fastening rail you have to use closer (maximum 40 cm), parallel, three dowels (or screws) at every rail in order to avoid pipe overhanging. The first fastening rail should be at 5-8 cm from the wall surface.

The housing of the distribution pipe has to be made in advance. If the system has to be suitable for cooling then the distribution pipes should be mounted near the ceiling, but if only heating is required it is possible to mount them near to the floor. Keep in mind that the length of a register pipe cannot exceed 13 meters in this case either.

When mounting the distribution pipe on the ceiling we advise you use the 20 mm 90° John Guest® elbow fitting of the system's NOOXYPIPE. If the system has to be suitable for cooling you can only use the pipe insulation determined by the engineer in compliance with the product's technological instructions of the manufactured.
