Of course our climate dictates that we need warmth for large periods of the year. But we all know how unpleasant it can be during periods of higher temperatures both in the workplace and at home. Our Build4 Meditherm® system can be used to provide cooling as well as heating particularly if used in conjunction with energy efficient systems such as the DeLonghi air heat exchange range. It really is a sensible and cost effective alternative to air conditioning.
Radiant Heat, An Efficient Way To Keep Warm
Traditional central heating systems heat up the air and cause it to circulate by convection. So how is our system different?
Research in the field of warmth perception* shows that you feel warmer when you can feeel radiant heat falling on you. This is more important factor in providing us with a comfortable feeling than the actual temperature of the air. If we warmth from radiation, we feel comfortable even if the temperature of the surrounding air is lower.

When the sun comes out on a cool, cloudy day, we immediately feel its warmth. We feel more comfortable even though the actual surrounding temperature hasn't changed. Meditherm® wall heating works the same way, but in an enclosed space. The heated wall surface warms us up mainly by radiation, and we feel really comfortable but the actual temperature of the room can be lowered by as much as 2-3 degrees compared to traditional heating systems.

The System Can Be Used For Cooling
The system cools in the same way as it heats. The temperature of the circulating water is 14-16 °C which provides a pleasant dust and draught-free temperature of 22-23 °C. Because the cooling comes from the wall surface, we experience this temperature as if it were 2 degrees lower and it feels pleasantly cool.
The output of refrigeration is 80 W/m2, lower than the heating output. Cooling is more efficient when the tubes are installed into the ceiling of a room. The re-cooling of the water can be carried out by a refrigeration unit or natural energy.
